    Our Designers

    ALBERTO CANNETTA (1936-2018)

    Learn More
An architect and designer, he worked alongside students, helping them translate designs that arrived from artists and designers from many distant countries. Students remember him fondly and gratefully as a father who taught a different dimension of the relationship between student and teacher.

    RENZO BIGHETTI

    Learn More
An artist and seafarer, he donated the bowline to Il Nodo, which has become our symbol and logo. He worked extensively in Phnom Penh with students, teaching them how to bend metal to make the bowline, the first piece of jewelry made in the workshop.

    ROSSELLA TORNQUIST

    Learn More
She designs and creates jewelry. At Il Nodo, she offered designs such as Anemone, Leaf, Wave designs and many others. She worked in Phnom Penh with students, teaching the module concept. For the students, having the ability to create infinite variants starting from the same basic design felt like having a magic wand.

    MIKKY EGER

    Learn More
A teacher at the Ambrosian School of Goldsmithing, she designs and makes jewelry with dynamic shapes to convey emotions and energy. She has worked in the Bottega, teaching the most up-to-date techniques so that our school can achieve the perfection that distinguishes fine jewelry. With the students, she created a manual of the highest quality finishes and created a collection of jewelry inspired by the Khmer alphabet.

    SHIINA NARDI DESIGN

    Learn More
Kaori Shiina of Japan and Riccardo Nardi of Tuscany, founders of “Hand on Design,” a company whose intent is to transmit new life through design to the rich craft traditions of Italy and Japan. For Il Nodo, they activated the network of designer friends to contribute a design to the school with the result of a collection of signature designs.

    PIETRO ALGRANTI

    Learn More
A refined upcycling designer and the owner of Algranti Lab. He worked in Phnom Penh teaching the students of 'Wood for Change' to recognize the potential of a waste material and transform it into something new and beautiful through crafting.

    DOROTHÉE ETIENNE

    Learn More
A Parisian creative strategy designer. She has worked multiple times in the Workshop with students, encouraging them to express their own creativity, drawing inspiration from the motifs of Vann Molyvann—the greatest Khmer architect—as well as from street art and everyday forms.

    KENGIRO AZUMA (1926-2016)

    Learn More
An artist originally from Japan, now based in Milan. He gifted to Il Nodo ‘MU8’—a symbol of infinity and the continuity of life, which is a recurring theme in his art.

    GIANCARLO ILIPRANDI (MILANO, 1925-2016)

    Learn More
Designer, graphic artist, and among the leading figures of Italy’s ‘culture of the project’ in graphic design, he devoted more than sixty years to visual communication design—and beyond. He participated in Gioie d’autore with great enthusiasm: during a vacation, he designed an earring that, above all, would spark the imagination of the young people at the Bottega.

    STUDIO KANZ

    Learn More
Antonella Maione and Mauro Cazzaro, Venetian architects and designers, collaborate with Il Nodo by contributing standout designs such as ‘Bent’ and ‘Canal Grande’.

    MARTA LAUDANI E MARCO ROMANELLI

    Learn More
Architects and designers—Marta from Rome and Marco from Milan—designed and donated to Bottega students the piece ‘Mekong,’ a jewel that won the Design Excellence Award for Lazio and Lombardy and was exhibited at the Vicenza Jewelry Museum. Marta later designed necklaces and bags for the 'Designing Girls Future' project.

    ALESSANDRO MENDINI (1931-2019)

    Learn More
An iconic, internationally renowned architect‑designer chose to contribute to the Il Nodo Social Design School by donating the sketch of a necklace.
